Court orders United Insurance to pay Rs 13,525 for denying medical claim due to short hospitalisation

A Delhi consumer court ordered an insurance company to reimburse Rs 13,525 with interest to a complainant for rejecting a medical claim. The court ruled that emergency treatment should be considered, even if hospitalisation is less than 24 hours. The company was also fined Rs 5,000 and had to pay Rs 3,000 for litigation costs.
