India has declared three cough syrups toxic following the deaths of at least 17 children. Investigations revealed high levels of diethylene glycol, a toxic substance, in Coldrif, Respifresh TR, and Relife. Authorities have banned Coldrif, arrested its manufacturer, and ordered recalls for the other two syrups.
