Centre will protect entire Aravallis; no mining leases; protected zone to be expanded

A complete ban on new mining leases in the Aravalli Range has been ordered by the Union Ministry of Environment. This move aims to protect the entire geological ridge from Delhi to Gujarat. The Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education will identify more areas for prohibition. A comprehensive management plan will be developed.
