The Centre aims to expand the Atal Bhujal Yojana, targeting groundwater sustainability, from seven to twelve states, incorporating Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana. The scheme has already improved groundwater levels in 813 gram panchayats and 47 blocks across 26 districts since its implementation in April 2020.
