Calling someone ‘bastard’ in anger is not obscene: Supreme Court
The Supreme Court of India ruled that using the word "bastard" in a heated exchange does not constitute obscenity under Section 294 of the IPC. The court clarified that mere vulgarity or profanity, without a sexual or prurient element, does not meet the legal definition of obscenity, which requires arousal of sexual thoughts.
