August rainfall in northwest India highest since 2001: IMD

Northwest India saw its highest August rainfall since 2001. The India Meteorological Department reported 265 mm of rain. South Peninsular India also had above-normal rainfall. Punjab faced severe flooding. Himalayan states suffered landslides and damage. The entire country received slightly above-normal rainfall in August. Overall, the monsoon season brought excess rain to many regions.
