A least 8 people have died trying to cross the English Channel from northern France, authorities say

At least eight people died during a failed attempt to cross the English Channel from northern France. The incident occurred near Ambleteuse when a boat carrying dozens was spotted in distress. French rescue services provided medical assistance to 53 migrants, but eight could not be saved. This follows another tragic incident two weeks prior.
