Sacrilege row: Akal Takht directs Punjab government to address objections on anti-sacrilege law within one
Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj has given the Punjab government a month to amend the anti-sacrilege law, citing objections that it was enacted without consulting the Sikh Panth. He stressed that the Vidhan Sabha cannot dictate Sikh language and urged the government to avoid interfering in religious matters. The Jathedar emphasized the need to punish desecration while respecting Sikh religious institutions and sentiments.
