Sir Ranulph Fiennes’ sister-in-law has revealed the emotional message she claims the UK's most daring explorer gave her during a visit to a care home last year. Sir Ranulph has not been seen in two years, despite being previously open about his Parkinson’s diagnosis. His wife has lasting power of attorney over his care, and is understood to have installed him in several different care homes under a pseudonym, and that he has not been allowed to receive visitors. It comes after a care home owner in Wales, where the explorer had been placed for seven weeks this year, told The Telegraph they had reported several concerns about Sir Ranulph’s wellbeing to the authorities, including the police. Responding to the reports for the first time on Monday (28 September), Cheshire Police detective chief superintendent Claire Jesson said police are satisfied Sir Ranulph is receiving suitable care. Speaking to BBC’s Newsnight on Monday, Sir Ranulph’s sister-in-law, Arabella Pepper, said she last saw him in 2025 in a care home. She said: “ The first thing I said to him apart from the usual greetings was that everybody was worried about him, was looking for him, was longing to see him, and had been since October 2024, and the relief on his face was very obvious and he said: ‘Send a message to everybody. Send them my love. Tell them I love them, and tell them I'm longing to see them.’ “Those were his words to me and I have no reason to doubt him.”
