A total of 11 prefectures, including Toyama, Nara and Fukuoka, plan to switch from golden lapel pins for prefectural assembly members to less expensive materials such as silver or gold-plated versions starting with this spring’s unified local elections in an effort to cut costs, according to a survey by The Yomiuri Shimbun.
