Man Utd make shock approach for £130m star after rejecting Arsenal transfer

Alvarez made it clear he wants to leave Atletico this summer in a bombshell revelation this week with Barcelona his ‘dream’ destination. Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain have both held talks to sign the Argentina international but as it stands, the 26-year-old will not consider a move anywhere else other than the Camp Nou. Alvarez’s comments did not go down well at Atletico with the club already furious with Barcelona for what they regard as a very public pursuit of the player. Having blasted the Catalan giants on several occasions on social media, they also plan to report them to Fifa over their conduct. Reports in Spain claim Atletico have no intention of selling to Barcelona this summer with the Madrid side trying in vain to steer him towards Arsenal or PSG. With the situation complex and ongoing, Argentine journalist Marcos Duran reports another club has joined the chaos in United who he claims have spoken ‘directly’ with Alvarez’s agent. The former Manchester City star has already reportedly said no to a proposed move to Arsenal. Atletico are also said to have explored a move that would see Alvarez join Mikel Arteta’s side in exchange for €60m (£51.7m) plus Viktor Gyokeres. Alvarez’s preference for Barcelona had up until this week only been relayed through the media but the player broke his silence this week, making it clear he wants to leave the Spanish capital. ‘I spoke with the people I needed to speak with and the best thing for everyone is a transfer. I want to fulfil my dream,’ Alvarez said after Argentina’s 2-0 win over Austria.
