Inside the organised rural crime epidemic crippling British farms

Sergeant David Lund recently tracked a quad bike that had been stolen from a farm in Whitby, North Yorkshire, to a rocky outcrop just outside Middlesbrough, roughly 25 miles away. A police car couldn’t reach the outcrop, and Cleveland Police, which covers the area, said it didn’t have an off-road vehicle to send. So, naturally, Lund pursued the thieves on foot, running up an 800ft peak in the dead of night.
