Asian Games 2026: India slips from Hangzhou high as Aichi-Nagoya exposes gaps in shooting, athletics
India achieved a total of 85 medals at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, which is a decrease. The country secured 21 gold, 27 silver, and 37 bronze medals compared to the previous event. Traditional strongholds like shooting and athletics underperformed significantly, contributing to the overall medal shortfall. Notably, India's increased presence in archery, wrestling, and cricket marked some positive outcomes for the nation.
