India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, called for urgent reforms in the UN Security Council during the UNSC Open Debate on strengthening the UN-centered international system. He said double standards and outdated structures weaken the credibility and effectiveness of the United Nations, while highlighting India’s historic contributions to UN peacekeeping missions. Responding to Pakistan’s remarks at the debate, Harish accused Islamabad of sponsoring cross-border terrorism and violating principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity. He asserted that India has the right to defend itself against terrorism and urged Pakistan to end support for all forms of terror activities.
